Overview
- The Delhi government approved the project on Tuesday, endorsing a 4-kilometre signal-free elevated corridor on SSN Marg to reduce chronic congestion in the Chhatarpur area.
- The corridor runs from the Anuvrat Marg junction near Qutub Minar Metro to DLF Farms and will include a flyover, slip roads and an underpass or foot overbridge to separate through traffic from local movements.
- PWD studies say the stretch handles tens of thousands of passenger car units daily and that the elevated route could cut travel time sharply while raising average speeds on the corridor.
- Officials say the DPR is ready, tenders will be floated soon, the project is provisionally estimated at about Rs 700 crore, and civil work is expected to take around two years after award.
- Execution will depend on site decisions and clearances for encroachment removal, tree felling or transplanting, and coordination with other agencies, which will affect final design, cost and schedule.
