Overview
- The Delhi transport minister confirmed the plan for 56 women-only electric buses to run on 28 high-footfall corridors with the Delhi Transport Corporation operating the services.
- The network is divided into 30 'Ladies Special' peak-hour trips on 15 city routes and 26 'University Ladies Special' services on 13 routes linking key residential areas to Delhi University campuses.
- Each bus will carry CCTV, panic buttons tied to the Operation Control Centre, low-floor ramps for disabled passengers, distinctive branding, and deployed marshals or female police where required.
- All buses will be fully electric and the services will accept the Pink Smart Card so eligible women can travel cashless or free under the existing subsidy scheme.
- Officials have published routes and operating times for peak services but have not given a firm launch date, and questions remain on bus procurement, staffing and training, OCC monitoring capacity, and enforcement of gender-only travel rules.
