Delhi Aerocity Station to Become Major Interchange as Golden Line Extends to Terminal 1

DMRC has unveiled a 22‑metre‑deep, 290‑metre platform with future NCRTC Alwar provision following December approval of the 2.263‑km Terminal 1 spur.

Overview

  • The Aerocity hub will link the Airport Express Line with the Tughlakabad–Aerocity Golden Line, with provision to add the proposed NCRTC corridor to Alwar for a triple interchange.
  • DMRC says the upgraded station will offer platform‑to‑platform transfers on one side and paid‑area concourse connectivity between the two metro lines.
  • The extension approved by the Union cabinet on December 24 covers about 2.263 km from Aerocity to the IGI Airport Terminal 1 station on the Magenta Line.
  • Connectivity gains include direct metro access to Terminal 1 and quicker transfers to Terminals 2 and 3, benefiting south Delhi areas such as Tughlakabad, Ambedkar Nagar and Khanpur.
  • Phase‑4 works are well advanced, with DMRC indicating TBM tunnelling later in 2026 and a target to integrate the T1 spur by early 2027.
