- Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado ended his gubernatorial campaign on Tuesday, saying there was “no viable path forward.”
- Delgado said he will remain lieutenant governor and support Democrats as the party turns toward the fall campaign.
- Delgado took roughly 14–15% at the state Democratic convention, below the 25% needed for automatic ballot access, and the Working Families Party declined to endorse him.
- Recent Siena polling showed Hochul leading Delgado by more than 50 points, while major unions, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, and every Democratic member of the state’s U.S. House delegation, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, lined up behind Hochul.
- Hochul is now running with former NYC Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, while Delgado had recently tapped India Walton; the governor’s ticket can pivot to November against likely GOP nominee Bruce Blakeman.
