Overview
- The Delacorte officially reopened and resumed Free Shakespeare in the Park on Friday with the 63rd season opener, Romeo & Juliet, running May 22 through June 28.
- The new production, directed by Saheem Ali, stages the play in English while having Romeo and Juliet speak to each other in Spanish and stars Ra’Mya Latiah Aikens and Daniel Bravo Hernández.
- All seats remain free but entry requires a physical ticket or digital voucher distributed daily through multiple channels including the in‑park line, the TodayTix digital lottery, in‑person vouchers at The Public, and a standby line.
- The season includes Daniel Sullivan’s The Winter’s Tale (July 25–Aug. 23), Public Works: Public Record (Sept. 4–8), a May 30 community open house, and expanded programs such as Public Forum Mondays and Summer Friday events.
- The reopening follows a multi‑year, $85 million renovation that sent the festival offsite in 2024 and 2025 and delivers larger backstage spaces, new accessibility features, and a restored civic stage for New York’s summer arts calendar.
