Overview
- Emergency services were called just after 2:50pm on January 28 to Hartford railway station in Cheshire, where a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

- National Rail reported all lines between Crewe and Wigan North Western/Runcorn were shut, with widespread cancellations and delays that were later extended to as much as 90 minutes.
