Dearborn Homecoming Imposes 4 p.m. Minor Curfew and New Security Rules

Officials say the measures are intended to curb recent teen takeover attempts seen across metro Detroit.

Overview

  • The 45th annual Dearborn Homecoming runs Aug. 7–9 at Ford Field Park and organizers expect more than 100,000 attendees over the three-day weekend.
  • A new 4 p.m. curfew requires anyone 17 or younger to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to enter or remain on festival grounds starting Friday.
  • Organizers will gate the site with three designated entry points, enforce bag searches, station officers in bright shirts, and use an elevated observation tower and drones for monitoring.
  • Limited paid parking will cost $10 with no re-entry, all rideshare and drop-offs must use the official zone at 22000 Garrison St., and drivers are banned from stopping on Cherry Hill, Brady and Monroe streets.
  • Residents are split on the timing of the curfew but many welcome tighter security as officials say the steps follow a review of best practices after this summer’s regional youth gatherings and incidents.
