Overview
- From December 2025, ICE trains on the Frankfurt/Main–Dresden route will stop in Riesa only in the morning toward Leipzig and in the evening toward Dresden.
- More than 5,000 people have signed a petition to keep the stop, with passenger group Pro Bahn supporting the effort.
- Riesa’s mayor, the Meißen district administrator and the Oberelbe transport association issued a joint critique, while Greens demanded a “Riesa rail summit.”
- Pro Bahn warned the reduction risks leading to a complete loss of the long‑distance stop that connects nearby rural areas.
- DB reported occasional booking stops on the Dresden–Wiesbaden ICE after seat capacity fell by roughly 240 per train and passenger flows shifted due to works on the Anhalter Bahn; IC trains between Dresden and North Rhine-Westphalia will continue every two hours.
