Daybreak Unveils EverQuest Legends, a Solo-Friendly Reimagining of the 1999 Classic for a July PC Launch

The fan-led project targets lapsed players with a solo-first redesign that keeps the 1999 look intact.

Overview

  • Daybreak and Game Jawn announced Tuesday that EverQuest Legends will open a closed beta in April and launch on PC in July 2026, with sign-ups live now.
  • At release the game restores the original 1999 art, music, and zones and starts with pre-Kunark Antonica plus every playable race, including Iksar, Frogloks, and Kerran.
  • The design supports full solo progression alongside small-group play, capping parties at four and raids at eight to reduce time pressure and coordination hurdles.
  • Characters can equip up to three classes at once and upgrade gear to +10, with systems that let players move or combine focus, click, and proc effects to tailor builds.
  • PC Gamer’s GDC reporting says Legends will sit outside the live EverQuest economy with no use or transfer of Kronos, signaling a separate model from the main MMOs.
