Overview
- Clubs confirmed the permanent transfer of Union Berlin academy product David Preu to VfB Stuttgart’s U21, which will compete in the 3. Liga.
- Union sporting director Horst Heldt said the move is designed to give Preu lasting responsibility and more time on the pitch to further his progress.
- VfB youth director Stephan Hildebrandt highlighted Preu’s speed, technical training and versatility to play both wide and as an outside full-back as the signing rationale.
- Preu came through Union’s system from 2019, spent 2023/24 on loan at VfR Aalen, has five brief Bundesliga appearances to his name and had no playing minutes last season.
- By joining a 3. Liga reserve side, Preu will face senior professional opposition regularly which could help him earn a first-team role or attract interest from other clubs.
