Overview
- An ANPR hit at about 7.22pm on February 16 flagged a possible cloned or stolen car on Bury New Road in Heywood.
- Officers followed the vehicle from a petrol station onto the M60 as the driver attempted an illegal U-turn and drove the wrong way.
- Police quartered the car twice to keep it on the carriageway before using tactical contact to end the roughly four-minute pursuit.
- All three occupants were detained, and the driver was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop, dangerous driving and driving without insurance before being bailed.
- Two passengers suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital, two police vehicles were significantly damaged, and inquiries into the vehicle’s status are ongoing.
