Dashcam Shows Low-Speed Derbyshire Police Pursuit Ending in Driver's Jailing

Police disabled the car with a stinger before it hit a barrier, then it rammed a patrol vehicle, injuring an officer.

Overview

  • Euton Rook, 42, tried to evade a stop in Swarkestone on 18 August in a Ford Mondeo suspected of carrying an altered number plate.
  • Despite all four tyres being punctured by a stinger, the car continued at very low speed until officers boxed it in.
  • The manoeuvre ended with a collision into a crash barrier and a ram of a police car, which left the officer driver injured.
  • Checks found Rook was banned from driving, wanted for recall to prison, and linked to thefts at a Greggs and a Co‑op, with tape used to alter the car’s registration.
  • At Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court on 20 August, he admitted multiple offences and received a 41‑week jail term, a 692‑day driving disqualification, £85 in court costs, and compensation orders for the injured officer and the two shops.
