Overview
- Red Hook announced the surprise expansion on Tuesday, July 21, and said The Fire’s Edge will launch on August 18 for PC, PlayStation and Nintendo with an Xbox date and pricing still to be confirmed.
- The DLC adds two re‑visioned Darkest Dungeon 2 heroes, the Duelist and the Runaway, with the Duelist using stance‑based Riposte and the Runaway favouring Burn, stealth and position‑flexible play.
- The Fire’s Edge introduces the Burn combat mechanic, new trinket systems named Trigger Uses, Quest Charges and Progressive Trinkets, and three new Hamlet districts: Academie Duello, Craftworks, and Archaeological Base Camp.
- Red Hook warned that many longstanding mods may not work at launch and said it is developing new modding tools to help creators update their work.
- The expansion is the first major content update for the original game in six years as Red Hook marks the title’s 10th anniversary and separately teased additional Darkest Dungeon 2 DLC for early 2027.
