Overview
- Michkov, who on Tuesday owned a one-assist playoff and said he would hit the ice right away, was skating in Voorhees on Wednesday in what Rick Tocchet called a “vengeance tour.”
- Tocchet explained Wednesday that he scratched the 21-year-old to add speed and fresh legs and said the move also reflected that this was Michkov’s first NHL postseason.
- General manager Danny Brière said Thursday the scratches were one-off lineup calls and that the team still sees Michkov as a core player.
- Brière said the winger needs better off-ice conditioning and expects him to spend part of the summer in Philadelphia to be ready for a shorter training camp.
- Trade interest has been reported by league media, but the Flyers control Michkov’s rights through July 1, 2027, which lowers any urgency to consider a move.
