Dangote Refinery Confirms 12 Fuel Cargoes for Export to Five African Countries

A surge to 650,000 barrels a day unlocked surplus supply during Middle East shipping disruptions.

Overview

  • Dangote said it sold 12 cargoes totaling 456,000 tonnes of refined products on a Free on Board basis to international traders for delivery to Cote d'Ivoire, Cameroon, Tanzania, Ghana and Togo.
  • The shipments include Premium Motor Spirit following the refinery's ramp-up to 650,000 barrels per day in February.
  • The company says its capacity allows it to meet or exceed Nigeria's domestic fuel needs while serving regional demand.
  • Management links the export move to a war-related squeeze on oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz and higher global prices, with Brent cited around $104 a barrel in reporting.
  • Dangote highlights Euro 5 gasoline and diesel for West Africa, while South Africa is reportedly negotiating a 12‑month supply deal and a spokesman notes requests for jet fuel from outside Africa.
