Overview
- William Davies, 32, was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison at Shrewsbury Crown Court after pleading guilty to robbery, dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.
- The assault took place on 15 February when a 67-year-old motorist who stopped to help Davies was punched, forced out of his Ford Mondeo and left injured at the roadside.
- Dashcam video captured Davies attacking the victim and then driving the stolen car at speeds up to 90mph while hitting kerbs and using the wrong side of the road, which helped police identify and arrest him the same day.
- Judge Peter Barrie banned Davies from driving for four years and nine months and ordered him to pass an extended driving test if he seeks to regain a licence after the ban.
