Overview
- More than 10,000 dancers representing over 100 styles will step off with an 11:45 a.m. ribbon cutting at 17th Street and Sixth Avenue.
- A pre-parade press conference will feature a live activation with 40 costumed dancers and Grand Marshals Joan Myers Brown, Timmy Regisford, Christine Jowers, and Jeff Selby.
- The route moves south on Sixth Avenue and east on 8th Street, with each group getting 40 seconds to perform at the Astor Place Grandstand.
- The parade wraps at St. Marks Place and Avenue A, then shifts to a free DanceFest in Tompkins Square Park from 3 to 7 p.m. with five stages and 450 performers.
- This year’s theme, “The Beat Goes On,” links the festivities to advocacy for the right to dance, including work with LegalizeDance.org and the 2017 repeal of New York City’s Cabaret Law.
