Dan Trachtenberg Affirms Predator Plans as Badlands Debuts on Streaming

The director says his new three-year first-look deal at Paramount will not end his work on the Disney-owned franchise, though scheduling could slow the next chapter.

Overview

  • Predator: Badlands began streaming February 12 on Hulu and Disney+, with JioHotstar carrying it internationally and a physical release set for February 17.
  • Trachtenberg said the Paramount pact “does not mean” he is done with Predator and that he is actively developing future stories across formats.
  • He cautioned that timing and schedules could affect when another Predator project moves forward, but emphasized that “anything’s on the table.”
  • Under the three-year first-look deal, Trachtenberg will develop, direct, and produce features at Paramount with producing partner Ben Rosenblatt.
  • Badlands, released theatrically in November, has earned roughly $184.5 million worldwide, the franchise’s best box office to date.
