Dallas Lawsuit Accuses ChiefsRashee Rice of Repeated Assaults

The NFL is reviewing the case under its Personal Conduct Policy following the Dallas filing.

Overview

  • Dacoda Jones filed a civil complaint in Dallas County seeking more than $1 million, alleging assaults from December 2023 through July 2025, including incidents while she was pregnant.
  • The suit claims Rice grabbed, choked, strangled, pushed, scratched, hit and headbutted Jones, threw objects, destroyed property and locked her out at night at homes in Texas and Missouri.
  • The Chiefs said they are aware of the filing and are in contact with the league, which stated the matter remains under review.
  • Rice has not been criminally charged on these claims; his attorney denies the allegations and points to a 2025 sworn affidavit in which Jones said he did not punch her.
  • Rice previously pleaded guilty in the 2024 Dallas crash case, received 30 days in jail and five years of deferred probation, and served a six‑game suspension in 2025; a civil hearing is scheduled for May 4, 2026.
