Dabo Swinney Accuses Ole Miss' Pete Golding of Tampering as NCAA Says It Will Investigate

Clemson has filed evidence with the NCAA following Luke Ferrelli’s flip to Ole Miss.

Overview

  • Swinney alleges Golding texted linebacker Luke Ferrelli during an 8 a.m. Clemson class asking, “I know you’re signed, what’s the buyout?” and sent a photo of a $1 million offer.
  • Clemson says Ole Miss later raised the offer to about $2 million and that Ole Miss players Trinidad Chambliss and former QB Jaxson Dart also contacted Ferrelli.
  • Clemson reports submitting evidence to the NCAA on Jan. 16, notifying AD Graham Neff, ACC commissioner Jim Phillips, and looping in the SEC office.
  • Ferrelli committed to Clemson on Jan. 6, signed Jan. 7, enrolled and began classes, then re-entered the portal on Jan. 16 and committed to Ole Miss on Jan. 22.
  • NCAA enforcement chief Jon Duncan said the organization will investigate credible tampering allegations, with potential Level II or Level I violations carrying penalties that can include suspensions, scholarship reductions, recruiting restrictions, fines, probation, or a postseason ban.
