Overview
- Cysic says an attacker minted 10 million CYS on BNB Smart Chain on Saturday and the project suspended its cross-chain bridge while it investigates.
- The team added the recipient address to the token contract blacklist about 76 minutes after the mint, freezing roughly 2.8 million CYS that remained in that wallet.
- On-chain tracing shows about 7.2 million of the minted tokens were sold and swaps and bridges routed roughly 306.6 ETH to Ethereum, a sum valued at about $727,000 in early reports.
- Cysic reports its mainnet and existing user wallets were not compromised and it has hired third-party security firms to trace funds and verify the full attack path.
- The incident highlights a recurring bridge risk where off-chain systems such as databases and message-processing logic can authorize unauthorized mints and cause token dilution and market harm for holders.
