Cypress Hills Man’s Death Ruled a Homicide as NYPD Opens Investigation

The case was triggered by a family-requested wellness check at his Cypress Hills apartment.

Overview

  • An autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that 51-year-old Justin Tetro was the victim of a homicide.
  • Officers conducting a Dec. 11 wellness check at 21 Pennsylvania Ave. found Tetro unconscious with head and neck trauma shortly after 11:05 a.m.
  • Emergency Medical Services pronounced him dead at the scene inside his apartment.
  • Detectives from the NYPD’s 75th Precinct are investigating, and police report no arrests at this time.
  • Through Dec. 14, the 75th Precinct has recorded 13 homicides this year, one more than at the same point in 2024.
