Overview
- Cyberabad Traffic Police ran a special drunk-driving operation over the weekend that caught 300 motorists.
- Most of those booked rode two-wheelers, with 253 motorcyclists, nine three-wheeler riders, and 38 car drivers.
- Officers logged blood alcohol levels for each case, including 232 between 36–200 mg per 100 ml, 35 between 201–300, and 33 between 301–550.
- Additional DCP (Traffic-1) G Hanmantha Rao said all 300 will be produced before the relevant court, following recent cases that ended in fines, short jail terms, or social service.
- Police warned that any intoxicated driver who causes a death can face a culpable homicide charge under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita with up to 10 years in prison and a fine.
