C.Y. Fest Canceled After Mass Artist Pullouts Over Misconduct Allegations

Organizers say refunds are being issued within 24–48 hours, with questions persisting over payouts.

Overview

  • The festival announced its shutdown on Mar. 19 via Instagram, saying tickets were automatically refunded within 24–48 hours and asking vendors to DM, though earlier reports described tickets as nonrefundable.
  • At least 20 bands withdrew after the Instagram account @Feral_bonobos circulated sexual misconduct allegations against founder Ignacio “Nacho Corrupted” Rodriguera.
  • Rodriguera has denied the allegations and said he stepped away from the event to pursue legal action while indicating an outside promoter would run the festival.
  • Tankcrimes owner Scotty Heath briefly moved to take over promotions in an effort to keep the event alive, then backed out less than 30 hours later citing unanswered operational questions.
  • The event had been slated for Mar. 28 at the Belasco in Los Angeles with a 60-band international lineup, while Regent Theater preshows were still planned this week with proceeds pledged to local women’s organizations.
