CTD and Military Report New Kills in Lakki Marwat and Kohat After Police Mobile Bombing

Officials issued differing casualty counts for the Lakki Marwat raid as identification of the dead and searches for facilitators continue following the patrol attack.

Overview

  • An improvised explosive device targeted a police vehicle near the Rasul Khel check post in Lakki Marwat’s Bettani/Shadi Khel area, killing at least six officers, with several reports saying a seventh later died, including SHO Sadr Azam.
  • The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CTD says six suspected militants were killed in an intelligence-based operation in the Shagayi/Shagei area after a roughly 40‑minute firefight, with four Kalashnikovs, two pistols, eight grenades and an IED recovered.
  • The military’s ISPR later reported a separate Lakki Marwat IBO that left five terrorists dead, noting weapons seized and a sanitisation effort under way to clear the area.
  • In Kohat’s Lachi tehsil, a joint CTD–police operation killed six suspects during an exchange of fire and recovered arms, with the district police chief saying cordons and search operations are ongoing.
  • Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and KP leadership condemned the police blast and praised security forces, vowing continued counter-terrorism operations.
