CRPF Constable Found Dead at Dantewada Battalion Headquarters as Police Open Probe

The case adds to a recent cluster of suicides among security personnel in Chhattisgarh.

Police identified the deceased as Jasveer Singh, 46, from Kanpur, found hanging at the CRPF 231st Battalion headquarters in Jawanga under Geedam police limits on Monday morning.
Officers said the discovery was made around 5 a.m., a forensic team examined the site, and the body was sent for post-mortem.
Authorities have not identified a motive, and preliminary findings cited by police indicate no signs of foul play.
With this incident, police count eight suicides by security personnel in Chhattisgarh over the past three months, including four from the CRPF.
State assembly data reported 177 such deaths from 2019 to June 15, 2025, including 26 in the CRPF, which is heavily deployed in south Chhattisgarh for anti-Naxal operations.
