Overview
- National Rail said a shortage of train crew has led to cancellations between Nottingham and Cardiff Central, with disruption expected until the end of the day on December 22.
- The suspension affects services through key stops including Birmingham New Street, Cheltenham and Gloucester, reducing trains to and from Nottingham.
- Tickets are being accepted on alternative routes, including CrossCountry services between Birmingham New Street and Bristol Parkway with a change to Great Western Railway for Cardiff Central, without needing to amend bookings.
- Customers can use their ticket on the two CrossCountry services before and the two after a cancelled train, and may return to an alternative starting station later at no extra charge.
- Northern’s festive timetable and Network Rail engineering west of Cardiff will also affect travel, with early finishes on Christmas Eve, no services on December 25–26 and amended schedules from December 23 to January 1.
