Crimson Desert Releases Largest Update Yet, Adding Difficulty Modes, Storage Revamp and Visual Upgrades

The release underscores Pearl Abyss's rapid push to reshape the game based on early player feedback.

Overview

  • Patch 1.04, which began rolling out Thursday across PC, PS5, and Xbox, adds Easy, Normal and Hard modes, with Hard delaying healing until food animations finish and tightening Parry and Dodge timing; Mac will get the update later.
  • Housing and storage get a major lift with new 1,000‑slot chests for gatherables and collectibles, Kuku Coolers for food, wardrobes that scale to 1,000 outfit slots, and selectable house layouts that unlock as the camp expands.
  • Players can now recruit pet birds via the Sotdae of Bond quest, choose from five new cat types with a Sigil of Bonding that keeps cats on shoulders longer, rename pets and horses, and buy livestock from new sellers.
  • Rendering of distant objects and textures sees a clear bump alongside sharper hair lighting and better long‑range character detail, with improved AMD FSR ray regeneration and Intel XeSS 3.0 options; downloads are about 37 GB on Steam and roughly 29 GB on PS5.
  • Combat is rebalanced as bosses no longer turn immune during big attacks and counter less predictably, while Pearl Abyss acknowledges a post‑patch mount‑summoning bug and says boss rematches are slated for a later update.
