CPSC Recalls Nearly 200,000 JKMAX Heated Blankets and Pads

Overheating internal wires have caused smoke, melting and dozens of burn injuries, prompting regulators to tell owners to stop using affected units.

Overview

  • The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall on Thursday for roughly 195,000–200,000 JKMAX heated blankets and heating pads sold on Amazon between September 2022 and July 2026.
  • Regulators say internal heating elements can overheat, and the recall follows 577 reports of smoking, melting or burning that include 53 reported burn injuries.
  • The recall covers models JKMAX-002, JKMAX-7284B, JKMAX-6284B, JKMAX-10090B and JKMAX-8490B, which can be identified by the model number on the back of the detachable white remote or on the product label.
  • Consumers are instructed to stop using recalled products immediately and contact JKMAX for a full refund through the company’s recall phone number, email or website, and the CPSC recall number is 26-778.
  • The items were imported by Jiande Pengshuai Trading Co. Ltd. of China, and the recall highlights how high-volume online sales can distribute defective heating products widely before regulators intervene, a key concern ahead of the colder season.
