CPS Energy, Ashtrom Start Work on 150‑MW El Patrimonio Solar Farm in San Antonio

The 20-year pact positions CPS Energy to grow its share of utility-scale solar.

Overview

  • CPS Energy, Ashtrom Renewable Energy and SOLV Energy broke ground on El Patrimonio, a 150‑megawatt solar farm on 867 acres on San Antonio’s South Side.
  • Under a 20‑year power purchase deal, CPS Energy will buy about 70% of the electricity and the rest will be sold on Texas’s open market.
  • Construction is underway with completion expected in 2027.
  • The project is projected to supply power for about 37,000 homes.
  • CPS Energy says the site supports its push to add more large‑scale solar, with solar now about 10% of its portfolio and a proposal to reach 28% by 2040 still pending board approval.
