Overview
- The Crown Prosecution Service authorised two new non-recent charges on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, bringing the total allegations against Westwood to 17 charges involving nine women.
- The Metropolitan Police say the added counts allege an indecent assault of a 16-to-17-year-old in Hammersmith and Fulham in 1991 and a sexual assault of an 18-year-old in Wandsworth in May 2004.
- A trial on the original 15 charges remains scheduled to begin at Southwark Crown Court on 25 January 2027, and Westwood will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on a date to be fixed for the two new charges.
- Westwood has denied the allegations and previously pleaded not guilty to the earlier charges; the CPS emphasised decisions were taken only after prosecutors judged there was sufficient evidence and that prosecution was in the public interest.
- The Met said its investigation remains open, urged anyone with information to come forward, and highlighted specialist support such as Rape Crisis for those affected while questions about institutional handling, including a past BBC apology, continue to shape public scrutiny.
