Courts Ban Two Drivers for Over Two Years After High Drink‑Drive Readings

The sentences show that readings near triple the legal limit bring long driving bans.

Overview

  • Two men pleaded guilty to drink driving in separate magistrates’ courts and received disqualifications of 30 months and 25 months.
  • Pawel Damian Otrzasek was stopped in Chipping Norton on December 21 and recorded 125 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, which is over three times the UK limit of 35.
  • Paul Rozynski crashed into the back of another car on Market Street in Millom on January 31 and later gave a station reading of 99 microgrammes, which is close to three times the limit.
  • Magistrates imposed community orders with unpaid work, setting 120 hours for Otrzasek and 100 hours for Rozynski, and ordered each to pay £85 in costs and a £114 victim surcharge.
  • Both drivers can cut their bans by completing an approved rehabilitation course, with Otrzasek eligible for a 30‑week reduction and Rozynski for 25 weeks.
