Court Mandates €603.40 Monthly Disability Pension Floor to Cover All Contributors

INPS will top up direct disability pensions to that level starting July 10 following the ruling that requires lawmakers to secure funding under constitutional budget limits.

Overview

  • INPS will ensure no direct disability pension falls below €603.40 per month for applicants with at least five years of insurance and a reduction in working capacity under one-third.
  • The ruling takes effect the day after its publication in the Gazzetta Ufficiale and bars any retroactive payments for past periods.
  • Workers hired after January 1, 1996 under a fully contributory system gain the same minimum pension guarantee previously reserved for retributive and mixed-system pensioners.
  • The additional costs of the pension integration will be covered by general taxation while Parliament enacts measures to respect the constitutional budget balance.
  • The Constitutional Court declared illegitimate the Dini reform provision that had excluded contributory disability pensions from minimum integration.
