Court Extends Psychiatric Observation of Lisa Murder Suspect by Seven Weeks

The extended psychiatric review will guide experts on whether to advise court-ordered treatment.

Overview

  • The Amsterdam court, which on Thursday approved a seven-week extension, kept 22-year-old Chris Jude under observation at the Pieter Baan Centrum.
  • The clinic expects a little over three more months to complete its evaluation and deliver a joint expert report that typically advises on criminal responsibility and possible court-ordered treatment known as tbs.
  • Jude agreed to remain under observation and has confessed to killing 17-year-old Lisa from Abcoude, saying he acted while hearing voices.
  • He also admitted an attempted rape on 10 August and a rape on 15 August in Amsterdam-Oost, both described as involving severe violence.
  • The first substantive hearing is scheduled for 18 January, with interim public sessions required in detention cases roughly every three months under Dutch procedure.
