Overview
- The child, identified as A'zara Beckett of Coatesville, was found unresponsive inside a room at the Best Western Plus Intercourse Village Inn & Suites in Leacock Township after a reported drowning Monday around 6 p.m.
- First responders pulled her from the water and tried to revive her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
- The Lancaster County coroner ruled the death accidental after an autopsy found freshwater drowning as the cause.
- Coroner Stephen Diamantoni confirmed the drowning occurred in a hot tub inside the hotel room, not in a pool.
- Pennsylvania State Police are leading the investigation with help from the district attorney’s office, child-welfare authorities, and the coroner, and the baby’s mother and Best Western say they are cooperating.
