Conway and Tickner Return to New Zealand Central Contracts

NZC says the changes shore up pace depth for a heavy Test schedule.

Overview

  • New Zealand Cricket announced on Wednesday that Devon Conway and Blair Tickner have been added to its 20-player central contract list while Adithya Ashok and Muhammad Abbas were omitted.
  • Conway moves from a casual playing agreement back to a full central contract and has made himself fully available for national selection during the August 1, 2026–July 31, 2027 contract window.
  • Tickner earned a recall on the back of strong recent form for the Central Stags and New Zealand, including a maiden five-wicket haul in the one-off Test at Stormont.
  • Michael Bracewell and Mark Chapman asked to be listed as white-ball specialists and remain on central contracts but will not be considered for Test selection.
  • NZC framed the list as preparation for a busy red-ball year after Kane Williamson’s retirement and said casual playing agreements for other players will be finalised in the coming weeks, a move that will shape selection and player workload across formats.
