Connecticut Man Fatally Struck While Clearing Snow From Car on Mass. Turnpike in Hopkinton

Authorities are reviewing the circumstances to establish how the collision occurred.

Overview

Police identified the victim as Patrick Sarpong, 35, of Vernon, Connecticut.
Sarpong was standing at the edge of the westbound travel lane around 11:15 p.m. when a passing tractor-trailer hit him, according to State Police.
His vehicle was positioned partially in the roadway and partially in the breakdown lane, investigators said.
Westborough Fire and EMS treated Sarpong before he was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Massachusetts State Police, including troopers from the Millbury Barracks, are investigating, and officials have not said whether the truck driver will face charges.
