Overview
- Connacht confirmed Tuesday they will add 25-year-old loosehead Jerry Cahir at the end of the season from interprovincial rivals Leinster.
- Cahir joined Leinster in September on short-term injury cover and has since made 14 first-team appearances after starting the year in the All-Ireland League with Lansdowne.
- He was at one stage Leinster’s only fit loosehead after Alex Usanov’s ankle injury and most recently came off the bench in the Champions Cup semi-final win over Toulon.
- The announcement followed news a day earlier that long-serving prop Denis Buckley will leave Connacht at the end of the season after 17 years with the province.
- Head coach Stuart Lancaster said Cahir will add quality at loosehead, a move that reunites the former Connacht U19 player with the western province in the United Rugby Championship.
