Overview
- The sale deed was registered on September 5 for the roughly 4.1–4.2 acre Vidhan Bhavan Barracks plot, with the RBI paying ₹3,471.82 crore to support Metro-3 capital works.
- Congress alleges earlier assurances in a 2015 government resolution and a 2016 letter promised rebuilt party offices on the site and says the land was sold without consultation.
- The party values the plot at about ₹5,200 crore and claims a loss of roughly ₹1,800 crore to the state, warning it will approach the court if the sale is not revoked.
- MMRCL says the land has always been government property used for temporary barracks and that the RBI paid the negotiated price plus an additional amount for rehabilitation to be transferred to the state.
- The corporation cites a March 23, 2023 government resolution authorizing the sale to raise funds and notes the parcel offers around 1.6 million sq ft of buildable area with 1.13 lakh sq ft reserved for rehabilitation.
