Committee Confirms Standing Statue and New Sculptor for Queen Elizabeth II Memorial

The committee set April 2026 for the public reveal of the final memorial designs to coincide with her centenary.

Overview

  • Karen Newman was appointed to create a new sculpture on Birdcage Walk as part of the national memorial in St James’s Park.
  • Martin Jennings will depict the Queen standing for the main statue and will also sculpt a companion statue of Prince Philip.
  • The statues of the Queen and Prince Philip will be positioned near Marlborough Gate on The Mall to reflect their partnership.
  • Foster + Partners continue to lead the coordinated memorial landscape, which includes new gardens and a translucent glass bridge concept.
  • Final designs for the Queen Elizabeth II National Memorial are scheduled to be unveiled in April 2026 to mark her 100th birthday.
