Commerce Pay Deal Takes Effect With 5% Raise and $120,000 Extra for Workers

A wholesalers’ group’s rejection signals possible strains on small shops.

Overview

  • An industry wage agreement between FAECyS and the employer groups CAC, CAME and UDECA takes effect from April 1, 2026 and covers April through June.
  • Basic salaries rise 5% in three steps—2% in April, 1.5% in May and 1.5% in June—with new scales ranging from $1,090,613 in the lowest category to $1,704,901 in the highest.
  • Workers also receive $120,000 in non-remunerative sums, built from earlier $40,000 and $60,000 payments plus a new $20,000 under this deal.
  • Employers pledged an extra solidarity contribution to Osecac, the commerce workers’ health fund, to help keep services running during the period.
  • The wholesalers’ chamber Cadam rejected the pact as unconsulted and unaffordable for many firms, especially SMEs, raising the risk some employers struggle to comply.
