Colorado Springs Teen Dies After Astrozon Plaza Shooting as Two Arrested on Attempted Murder Charges

Authorities withhold the victim’s name under Colorado’s Riley’s Law.

Police say the 15-year-old died on March 7 after being shot around 3 a.m. on March 1 in the Astrozon Plaza parking lot on the city’s south side.
Alexious Barben-Wright, 32, and Alyssa Jaramillo, 21, were arrested in connection with the case and booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
Both suspects face four counts of attempted first-degree murder along with additional charges that include menacing, according to an arrest affidavit.
The affidavit alleges Jaramillo held a handgun and handed it to Barben-Wright, who opened a rear door, struck a girl with the gun, and moments later the weapon discharged.
Investigators report recovering two 9mm shell casings at the scene, and police ask anyone with information to contact CSPD or submit a tip to Crime Stoppers.
