Colorado Springs Council Delays Decision on Project Taurus Data Center

A six-month postponement leaves questions about power capacity unresolved as litigation becomes likely.

City Council voted 7–2 to delay a final ruling on appeals over Project Taurus until April 13, 2027 after a more than nine-hour public hearing on Thursday.
The project was approved by the City Planning Department in June and survived an initial round of appeals at the Planning Commission in July before opponents appealed to council.
Neighbors and community groups who spoke at the hearing focused on noise, water use, air particulates and the site’s proximity to homes and the Garden of the Gods.
Open-records communications that reference 300 megawatts of available power conflict with developer filings that document a 50-megawatt buildout and the disagreement over true power needs remains unsettled.
Both Raeden and opponents said they are prepared to pursue court action and the April re-hearing, set after the municipal election, could change council dynamics or extend technical and legal review.
