College Student Shot Dead by Officer After Knocking on Wrong House

Montgomery County investigators are reviewing surveillance video and phone records to reconstruct the encounter and determine whether the use of force was justified.

Overview

  • Authorities say Upper Pottsgrove police responded to a 911 call about a possible break‑in and found a man in the rear of a Snyder Road home who was shot and killed in an encounter on Sunday, Aug. 23.
  • The victim was identified as 22‑year‑old Glenwood “Bubba” Pysher IV who family members say was unarmed and had only a cellphone and backpack when he knocked on the wrong house after a night out.
  • Pysher’s family reports phone‑log timestamps showing he was on the phone with friends at about 12:32 a.m. and that the shooting occurred within minutes, a timeline officials are examining.
  • The Montgomery County Detective Bureau is leading the active probe under county protocol, investigators have obtained backyard surveillance footage that is being reviewed, and officials have not publicly named the officer involved though at least one report says the officer was placed on administrative leave.
  • Pysher’s parents and the local community are demanding transparency and the DA’s office says it will release findings when the investigation is complete with the video and phone data likely to be central to conclusions and any potential charges.
