Overview
- Rob Thick and Hadley Gibson set off on the 10-day, 1,000-mile ride, which began on July 1, to cycle from Land's End to Sumburgh Airport in the Shetland Isles.
- The challenge was organised in memory of NATS outstations engineer Kieran Clark, who died of prostate cancer in November at the age of 38.
- After Kieran's death, several male colleagues had PSA tests and teammate Paul Graham received an asymptomatic positive result, has had his prostate removed, and is awaiting news on whether he will need radiotherapy.
- The pair are fundraising for Prostate Cancer UK, Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK and had raised more than £7,700 toward a £20,000 target as of July 3.
- The route will take the cyclists through Lancashire on July 4–5 and backers say the ride aims to show how workplace screening and PSA tests can catch prostate cancer early and prompt life‑saving treatment.
