Cold Spring Stabbing Leaves One Man Dead and Suspect Held

Overview

• Officers responding to a reported assault found a man with a stab wound at a residence on the 400 block of 8th Avenue North and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
• A man who was at the residence was taken into custody and is being held at the Stearns County Jail while prosecutors and investigators prepare formal charges.
• The Cold Spring/Richmond Police Department is leading the probe with assistance from the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota BCA, Avon Police, local fire rescue and ambulance crews.
• Investigators have not released the names of the victim or the suspect because the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office will make a formal identification and notify the family.
• Authorities say there is no ongoing threat to the public and investigators continue scene processing and evidence work as the case remains under active investigation.
