Overview
- Col. Christine R. Littlejohn formally assumed command of the 99th Air Base Wing on July 17 and was sworn in during a change-of-command ceremony presided over by Brig. Gen. David C. Epperson.
- Littlejohn is the first known woman to lead the 99th; base records provided to reporters list 16 previous commanders, all men, before her appointment.
- She arrives from Joint Base San Antonio, where she commanded the 502d Installation Support Group, and brings combat support experience from deployments to Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and Inherent Resolve.
- The 99th ABW is the host wing at Nellis, overseeing two groups and more than a dozen squadrons that support roughly 10,000–11,000 personnel and a complex of wings, tenant units and high‑visibility events.
- Her predecessor, Col. Jason Glynn, left after a two‑year tour in which the wing recovered from a Thunderbirds aircraft incident, ran the Aviation Nation airshow and led energy‑resilience projects, and Littlejohn has said she will build on that work to sustain mission readiness for Team Nellis.
