Coinbase Brings Crypto Trading and Custody to Webull Canada

The deal has Coinbase supplying Webull’s back-end trading, liquidity and custody so Webull can begin a selected-client beta of round-the-clock token trading without building its own systems.

Overview

  • The companies announced on Monday that Coinbase will provide its Crypto-as-a-Service platform to Webull Canada Crypto Limited so the brokerage can offer crypto trading, liquidity and institutional custody.
  • Webull Canada Crypto Limited is regulated by the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization as an order-execution-only dealer and will run trading inside Webull’s existing platform.
  • Webull’s disclosures state that cryptocurrencies held on the platform do not qualify for Canadian Investor Protection Fund coverage, though eligible cash balances may receive limited CIPF protection.
  • The initial rollout is planned as a selected-client beta for 24/7 trading of major tokens including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, Cardano and Litecoin before wider access is opened.
  • The partnership extends a model Coinbase already uses with Webull in the United States, Brazil and Australia and responds to rising retail demand in Canada, which an OSC survey found reached about 25% ownership in 2025; regulators and investors should watch how customer disclosures and custody rules evolve.
