Coimbatore Mahila Court Gives Life Terms to Three for 2025 Gang Rape Near Airport

An expedited trial drew on CCTV footage, forensic findings, testimony from 72 witnesses.

  • Judge V. Sundararaj convicted the three under Section 70(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and ordered compensation of ₹7 lakh to the survivor and ₹2 lakh to her boyfriend.
  • The convicts are T. Karuppasamy alias Satheesh (30), his brother T. Kaleeswaran alias Karthik (21), and their relative M. Guna alias Thavasi (20), from Sivaganga and Madurai districts.
  • According to the chargesheet, the trio assaulted the boyfriend, abducted the 20-year-old student near the airport on the night of November 2–3, 2025, and gang-raped her; she was found around 4 a.m., and he received treatment at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.
  • Police said they analyzed footage from about 300 surveillance cameras to track the suspects and arrested them near Vellakinar after shooting them in the legs during the capture.
  • Prosecutors filed a 350-page chargesheet on January 8, 2026, and the court heard 72 witnesses including CCTV and DNA experts; investigators also reported linking the trio to an earlier assault on herder M. Devaraj, who was later found dead.
