- The seizure occurred Jan. 28 after the tug Signet Thunder reported a stowaway on a barge bound for San Juan’s Old Army Terminal around 5:48 a.m.
- A Coast Guard Station San Juan boat recovered one person in the water alongside 10 bales of cocaine weighing 358 kilograms (789.25 pounds).
- Authorities estimate the drugs’ wholesale value at more than $5 million.
- Customs and Border Protection units and Puerto Rico Police marine teams joined Coast Guard crews in the harbor response.
- No additional stowaways or contraband were found during boardings, and the suspect and drugs were transferred to Homeland Security Task Force–San Juan partners for federal prosecution.
